The Haskell school of expression Paul Hudak, Professor Paul Hudak
Publisher: CUP
What text(s) did you find useful in learning Haskell? It is from 1999 but is still good. €Paul Hudak in The Haskell School of Expression. But Hudak seems to take forever to dish out the language. You can have a look at book “The Haskell School Of Expression” http://books.google.com/books?id=lQbth9j5j9oC&printsec=frontcover&dq=haskell. Do you find Haskell's approach creatively cumbersome at times? Paul Hudak's excellent book begins: "Programming, in its broadest sense, is problem solving ." Would that we all lived by such a sensible guideline. The Haskell School of Expression is an introduction to the Haskell programming language. This was by far the best programming language tutorial that I have ever read. I'll also add a vote for The Haskell School of Expression which is one of the best CS books I've ever read - certainly on a par with SICP and On Lisp (two other favourites). Even such papers labeled “gentle,” as “A Gentle Introduction to Haskell ” [1], can turn out to be less “gentle” than expected for those not familiar with the field. After starting The Haskell School of Expression, I am curious as to people's visceral reaction to Haskell being a purely functional language. Potts said I have not read Hudak's book yet. The Haskell School of Expression: Learning Functional Programming Through Multimedia Paul Hudak Cambridge University Press, Paperback, Published March 2000, 363 pages, ISBN 0521644089. Soegtk-0.12.1: GUI functions as used in the book "The Haskell School of Expression". Mmm A book which I like too and which is quite thin (for me indeed) is the one written by Hudak (the haskell school of expression). I picked up "The Haskell School of Expression", Paul Hudak, from Yale, in it's 7th printing, 2007.
